Terms of Service

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

ChessDrills (the “Service”) at chessdrills.com is operated by Artem Karpov (Brazil). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. The Service

ChessDrills reads the public games of a Chess.com or Lichess username and produces a free report on that player's openings. It also lets you practise and review positions from that report. You do not need an account to use the free report.

Some features remember your progress in a guest record tied to a token in your browser. You can add an email address to keep your progress and sign in on another device. How we handle that data is described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Using the Service

You agree not to:

• break the law or violate anyone's rights while using the Service;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
• interfere with its operation, or overload it with automated requests;
• scrape the Service or its data in bulk without permission;
• reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows it.

Analyse public games of any player, but do not use the Service to harass anyone. We may limit or block access that breaks these rules or harms the Service.

4. Your email address

Adding an email address is optional. If you add one, we use it to email you the links you ask for: one that confirms the address and one that signs you in. If we offer daily review reminders and you choose to receive them, we may send one at most once a day; every reminder carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time.

5. Third-party services

The Service depends on the public APIs of Chess.com and Lichess, and on providers such as Vercel, Hetzner and Resend. We are not affiliated with Chess.com or Lichess. Their availability, data and terms are outside our control, and the Service may be incomplete or unavailable when they are.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design and text, belongs to us or our licensors. Chess games belong to their players and to the platforms that publish them; we show them only to analyse and teach. These terms give you the right to use the Service, not to copy or resell it.

7. Reports are guidance, not guarantees

Reports and practice positions are generated automatically from the games available to us and from chess engines. They can be wrong or incomplete. Use your own judgement; we do not promise any improvement in your results or rating.

8. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or end any part of the Service at any time. We do not promise uninterrupted access.

9. Warranties and liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for it, which for the free Service is zero. Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that cannot be limited by law, including any consumer rights you have where you live.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. Mandatory protections that apply where you live are not affected.
